about

A powerful song inspired by the power of a storm and the significance of breath. Violet Skies is the first of four interlinked singles to be released throughout the year, following the themes of the elements Earth, Air, Water and Fire.
Salt and Steel are Briony Edgar on guitar and vocals and Elle Steele on drums and percussion. Two fiery and passionate female performers whose earthy, rock, blues and roots inspired sound has been garnishing a growing tribe of committed followers.
Their live show is a wild and stormy ride fuelled by foot-stomping rhythms and hypnotic melodies, yet Violet Skies reveals a more emotional and intimate exploration of the world around them.
Violet Skies was recorded at Blind Boy Studios, Gold Coast with Brad Hosking (Amy Shark, Electrik Lemonade). Here the duo were able to explore new sounds and instrumentation and breathe new life into the song. The magic of layering vocals and adding rumbling synths allowed them to enhance the atmospheric quality of the track. Briony even built her own harp and recorded it for the first time on this song.
